Knees
After the rowing extravaganza, my left knee started hurting. I told the director of my dance group, who told me that I shouldn't be working out without a trainer; that I need to work on strengthening whichever leg was "obviously" weaker and the cause of my knee pain (even though I can deadlift 1.25 x BW); and that I needed to dance for the practice. So I did. Now my knee hurts even worse, and there is no way I'm not giving it a few rest days. I am going to dance today, but I will NOT dance. This really annoys me.

My advice: take it easy on the knees, ease into new types of exercise, and don't burn your bridges with Inish. You'll get there, and Inish is great exercise too, as well as being a great outlet.
ReplyDeletei know, i love inish, but dancing on the knee would aggravate it more, so i just sat and watched and iced it
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree about the knee. I was referring to the annoyance you were feeling. Hang in there! Let's talk soon.
ReplyDeleteI hear you. My right calf, where I severed the muscle group back in 99 and was on crutches for 2 weeks, started hurting really bad about 3 weeks ago (from running barefoot?). Have been very careful not to run, jump rope or otherwise yenk it. Talked to Dan about it; he said just be patient - told me about when he did the same thing to his calf but worse - felt like someone had shot him and was on crutches for weeks. His advice to me is that these things take time and test your patience, but they will heal up and be strong if you respect them and listen carefully to them. Patience and good will toward your injury is the key. Ommmmm.
